Šiauliai "Aušros" museum was founded more than 101 years ago - in 1923 on March 11th, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the first Lithuanian newspaper "Aušra", and named after the same name. The museum, which has accumulated abundant and rich sets of exhibits during a century of intensive activity, updates the first collections of the museum and the directions of their formation and opens the exhibition "ŠAM - 101: in the footsteps of the first collections".
In the "Ethnic Cultural Heritage" part of the exhibition, the Šiauliai Museum of History introduces the main directions of formation of the Šiauliai "Aušras" museum collections: ethnographic expeditions, individual values and collections transferred to the museum by private individuals, thematic collections accumulated during the preparation of museum exhibitions. The pride of the Aušra Museum - Ethnographic Archive - 2006 is presented. included in the Lithuanian national register of the UNESCO program "Memory of the World", it tells about the personalities who created and nurtured the "Aušras" museum. The exhibition exhibits material from the collections of the Šiauliai "Aušros" museum. And most of the museum values accumulated in the interwar period can be seen in the exposition of the open storages of the Šiauliai History Museum.
From December 3 The part of the exhibition "Estate Cultural Heritage" exhibited in Chaim Frenkel's Villa-Museum will acquaint visitors with the exceptional collection of estate cultural heritage accumulated in the "Aušras" museum and the circumstances of its entry into the museum. The exhibition will review the purposeful efforts of the museum in the interwar period to actualize the significance of the cultural heritage of the manors, present the process of registration and protection of cultural values organized in the nationalized manors in 1940-1943, and the role of the "Aušras" museum in it.
The cultural values of the manors from the collections of the Šiauliai "Aušras" museum will be exhibited at the exhibition, as well as exhibits brought specially for this exhibition from other memory institutions: from the keys of the Berženiai manor to valuable 18th-19th century works. artificial porcelain, paintings, sculptures, furniture. Some of these values will be presented to the public for the first time. The stylized reconstruction of the interior of the manor created in the exhibition will reflect the 19th-20th centuries. p. The view of the manors of the Northern Lithuania region, the everyday life of the nobles of that time, their artistic taste and education, interest in the cultural innovations of Western Europe and will significantly complement the exposition in Chaim Frenkel's villa-museum "Provincial manor and city in the 19th century. avg. - 20th century average".
The exhibition will be on display at the Šiauliai History Museum and Chaim Frenkel's Villa-Museum until 2025 April 13th.
