The European Night of Museums 2024 in Šiauliai

In 2024 on May 18, Saturday, Šiauliai will host the Night of European Museums. 19 museums in the city will open their doors and invite you to free activities.

Educational activities await visitors at the bicycle museum, during which visitors will be able to create unique bicycle-themed souvenirs and try the grating technique. In the museum, visitors will get to know the history of the appearance of bicycles, view the expositions, and be able to compete in matching modern and ancient bicycles.

19-24 hours RADIO AND TELEVISION MUSEUM (Vilniaus st. 174)

In the museum exposition, you will see working television receivers made in different periods, you will hear mechanical turntables, electrophones, and tape recorders playing.

On the night of the museum, the film "Yesterday in the Šiauliai TV Factory" will be broadcast, and young visitors will be able to put together puzzles of the exhibits.

19:00-23:00 CENTER FOR KNOWLEDGE OF BALTIC CULTURE "BALTIC ROAD" (Vilniaus St. 213)

The first interactive center for learning about Baltic culture in Lithuania and Latvia, it is a unique space that helps visitors get acquainted with the past and present expressions of Baltic culture.

Visitors will find four interactive games in the spaces of "Baltic Road": the game "Baltic 'profession'" based on biometric human data, the educational game "Know Baltic things", "Go to the daily life of the Baltic" and the game-installation "Baltic life", presenting the uniqueness of individual Baltic tribes. , general aspects of the Baltic way of life.

The center presents the history, culture, and lifestyle of the Baltics with modern technologies, replicas of exhibits, and educational activities, creating opportunities to develop awareness of the Baltic heritage and its preservation.

19:00-23:00 ŠIAULIAI ART GALLERY (Vilniaus St. 245)

Visiting the "Résumé" exhibition of Šiauliai artists' photographs. During the night of the museum, visitors will not only be able to summarize the works of the exhibition, but also get involved in the creative frenzy by becoming co-authors of the exhibition.

6-10 p.m. VANDA KAVALIAUSKIENĖ CAT MUSEUM (Žuvininkų St. 18)

Visiting the museum located in one of the highest buildings in the city of Šiauliai - the water supply tower -: the history of the Šiauliai water management company, the stages of development of the water supply and sewage system, the development and modernization of the farm, the traditions of the company's team.

Familiarity with the development of Lithuanian warfare and defense, 20th century. partisan wars, army uniforms.

 6-10 p.m. ŠIAULIAI RAILWAY MUSEUM (Dubijos st. 26)

The Šiauliai Railway Museum invites you to get acquainted with the history of railways in Lithuania, discover old rolling stock and other museum exhibits, learn how the turning mechanism works and hear the stories of Lithuanian exiles!

In the outdoor and indoor exhibitions, visitors will see exhibits reflecting the history of railways and will take part in tours led by the museum staff of the Railway Museum. The game "Questionnaire" will allow you to learn the most important facts of the history of railways.

Visitors will be able to explore the passenger car with compartment compartments, and volunteers based inside will introduce interesting places of interest where you can travel by train. Young visitors will be invited to solve crossword puzzles and draw trains.

19-20 hours - sightseeing tour in the Šiauliai Railway Museum

20:30-21:30 – Education of canine experts of the Šiauliai border checkpoint of the Pagėgii border guard of the State Border Guard Service under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania

There will be games and activities for the little visitors of the museum in the event area, and a food tent will be waiting for those who are hungry!

6-10 p.m. THE HOUSE OF ARTIST GERARDAS BAGDONAVIČIUS (Aušros al. 84)

It is one of the most expressive wooden buildings of interwar modernism in Šiauliai, designed by architect Karolis Reisonas and G. Bagdonavičius himself. The artist's private house (a state-protected cultural heritage object of national significance level), which he left to the state, in 2018. was restored, arranged, some of the interior rooms were equipped with spaces presenting the life and work of the artist.

5 to 8 p.m. LITHUANIAN PRISON SERVICE ŠIAULIAI PRISON MUSEUM (10 Trakų str.)

7-11 p.m. THE SCHOOL MUSEUM OF ŠIAULIAI REKYVA (Poilsio St. 1)

7, 8, 9, 10 p.m. education "Gentlemen's entertainment in the Rêkyva Karpis manor"

Visitors who come to the Rêkyva Progymnasium Museum will enter the 19th century. The impromptu environment of Räkyva Karpis Manor. They will be welcomed by the retinue of Rêkyva Karpis manor with butlers, servants and ladies of the manor. Visitors will have the opportunity to dress up in the clothes characteristic of the lords of the manor and capture themselves in an impromptu photo session (the photos of the photo session will be sent to the e-mail addresses specified by the visitors). After dressing up and becoming real lords of the manor, the education participants will learn the ancient dance of the manors. After the dance, visitors will be invited to drink evening tea and chat with the gentlemen of the Rêkyva Karpis Manor. FULL.

6-10 p.m. COURT HISTORY MUSEUM OF THE ŠIAULI DISTRICT COURT (Dvaro st. 83)

In the Court History Museum of the Šiauliai District Court, the only one of its kind in Lithuania, you can find interesting exhibits: from the 16th century. related documents to the current decisions made by the court. Here you can see interwar and Soviet judges' offices, medieval torture devices, judges' uniforms and more! Also get to know the courts, their history and the profession of a judge.
