On March 11th, 2010 (Thursday, 2 pm), in Šiauliai Aušros Museum's Ch. Frenkelis Villa (Vilniaus St. 74, Šiauliai) the 20th anniversary of the Restitution of Independence of Lithuania and the 87th anniversary of Šiauliai Aušros Museum's establishment took place. On this occasion, traditional P. Bugailiškis (the founder of the Museum) Award and exhibition „Šiauliai Dwellers – the Fosterers of Parliamentary Traditions" were presented. A concert was held by Agnė Paškauskaitė, postgraduate from the Lithaunian Academy of Music and Theatre.

On February 12, 2010 at Šiauliai Aušros Museum, Ch. Frenkelis Villa (Vilniaus St. 74, Šiauliai), the exhibition displaying masks and ritual items "New Guinea – Lithuania" was opened and a concert took place. The Oceania region music was performed by Šiauliai State Chamber Choir „Polifonija" (leader – Gediminas Ramanauskas), Kęstutis and Gintautas Gascevičius, the Shrovetide songs sung by Šiauliai City Cultural Centre „Laiptai Gallery" Folklore Ensemble „Salduvė" (leaders – Violeta and Darius Daknys).

The exhibition will last till April 30, 2010.

Commemoration of February 16 at Ch. Frenkelis Villa

On February 16, 2010 at Šiauliai Aušros Museum, Ch. Frenkelis Villa (Vilniaus St. 74, Šiauliai), there was the commemoration of Lithuanian Independence Day (February 16, 1918). On this occasion, a book „Lithuanian War Heroes. Knights of the Vytis Cross (1918–1940)" was presented to the audience. The author of the book – Vilius Kavaliauskas (journalist, collector, an expert on Lithuanian and Baltic States awards) – took part in the event.

A new exposition „Bicycle Sports in Lithuania" was opened in one of Šiauliai Aušros Museum's subdivisions – the Bicycle Museum (Vilniaus St. 139, Šiauliai). During recent years, the materials concerning bicycle sports – popular and glorifying Lithuania in the world branch – had been purposely collected in the Museum and now they are on display. The stands, made using mainly digital technologies and revealing the history of bicycle sports starting with 3rd decade of the 20th century, dominate here.
